about us: good grace and shared futures
LUC’s AAUP Chapter begins with a commitment to the spirit of discernment and the integrity of academic life.
We gather faculty into a common project: defend truth, resist the reduction of knowledge to commodity, and practice solidarity as a form of intellectual and spiritual freedom.

DAMEN CINEMA, ARNOLD J. DAMEN, S.J. STUDENT CENTER
Hosted by LUC AAUP
Universities across the country are facing renewed scrutiny over faculty speech, governance, and institutional responsibility. This conversation will explore the meaning of academic freedom, tenure, and due process in today’s political climate. Historian Tom Alter will reflect on his recent experience, followed by responses from Loyola faculty and a student perspective.
Together, panelists will consider what universities owe their communities and how academic freedom sustains the university’s intellectual mission in moments of public controversy.
