about us: good grace and shared futures
LUC’s AAUP Chapter begins with a commitment to the spirit of discernment and the integrity of academic life.
We gather faculty into a common project: defend truth, resist the reduction of knowledge to commodity, and practice solidarity as a form of intellectual and spiritual freedom.

Defending Loyola Against Assaults on Higher Education and Democracy: A Teach-In
Rescheduled Date/Time TBA
Sister Jean Multi-Purpose Room, Damen Center, Lakeshore Campus
Hosted by LUC AAUP
The first year of the Trump administration has left universities under siege. Censorship, investigations, funding freezes, and the gutting of basic scientific infrastructure are changing what is taught and studied, as deportation campaigns and the targeting of political opponents raise the prospect of a more sweeping authoritarianism.
What are the potential impacts of these measures on Loyola? What changes can students and faculty expect in the near future? What can be done to push back? Leading experts from Loyola’s faculty will describe recent changes in critical areas, followed by a discussion.
