Academic freedom is non-negotiable.
Shared governance is a right, not a courtesy.

chapter mission
We are the Loyola University Chicago Chapter of the American Association of University Professors
(AAUP).
Apposite the national union and membership assocation of faculty, we champion academic freedom, shared governance, and the professional integrity of the professoriate.
We advocate for the rights and welfare of faculty across all ranks and contracts, support democratic participation in university decision-making, and work to uphold the national standards of higher education established by the AAUP.
Our chapter fosters solidarity through collective action, informed dialogue, and the promotion of inclusive, transparent academic practices that elevate the value of teaching, research, and public engagement.
In partnership with AAUP chapters across the country, we commit ourselves to building power through principled organizing, mutual care, and a shared vision of the university as a public good.
